Metro Compactor Service is Canada's leading expert in Waste and Recycling Equipment solutions. We are currently looking for a skilled AZ Truck Driver with Flat Bed Truck Experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering waste equipment safely and efficiently across designated routes. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, adherence to traffic regulations, and excellent time management skills. The Truck Driver will also be expected to perform daily inspections to ensure the truck is in optimal condition.

Location: This role will start work from our Production Shop.

 Work Hours: 7am to 3:30pm 

 What You Bring to the Table

• AZ/DZ license (Mandatory)
• 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Roll off/Flatbed experience
• Boom Crane experience
• Able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be mechanically inclined
• Ability to work outdoors in varying types of weather conditions
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required for maintaining logs and records
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Must have solid written communication skills in order to complete required paperwork
• Must have exceptional verbal communication skills to be able to interact with internal and external customers
• Excellent customer service skills, with a strong work ethic and positive attitude to represent the Company effectively and favourably
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

A Day in the Life

• Complete proper pre/post vehicle inspections
• Performs all duties as scheduled by Dispatch
• Responsible for loading and unloading flat bed truck with a forklift and boom crane
• Delivering and removing waste containers at designated sites in an efficient and appropriate manner
• Process and transmit information using a tablet
• Communicate customers requests or issues with dispatch
• When not doing deliveries, the Driver will assist in the shop as needed

The Field Service Technician travels to our high-profile commercial and residential client locations in the Vancouver Island area to perform diagnostic checks, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repairs to waste equipment such as compactors, balers, and garbage chute systems.

You will communicate directly with client users, operators, and employees to deliver a successful service visit. While most of your work will be independently performed after a suitable training period, you will be collaborating with other technicians and support staff to deliver the best possible solution for our clients.

Location: Service Technicians will work in Vancouver Island. Occasional travel to head office located in Port Coquitlam will be required.

 Work Hours: 8am to 4:30pm | Over-time and On-Call required

 What You Bring to the Table

• Valid "Class 5" Driver's License with a clean abstract.
• MUST be able to read and interpret schematics and conduct basic electrical troubleshooting.
• Previous working experience on machinery, including Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems, or electrical controls.
• Experience with limit switches, photo-eye sensors, and/or solenoids.
• Experience working with hand tools including drills, grinders, wrenches, hammers, and measurement tape.
• Must be willing to travel to several locations throughout the day and work independently in a company vehicle.
• Strong verbal communication skills, professional appearance, positive attitude, and a safety-first mindset.

A Day in the Life

• Start the day by reviewing your service schedule, ensuring that you're equipped with all the necessary parts and tools in your company vehicle.
• Drive to customers at commercial or residential job sites and engage with the site contact to discuss any issues they're experiencing with their equipment.
• Begin diagnostics on malfunctioning waste equipment, such as balers, compactors, or chute systems. Conduct repairs or maintenance tasks for various issues such as: adjusting sensor and component failures, operational issues, malfunctioning hydraulic pumps or motors, damaged hoses, and electrical problems (wiring issues, faulty switches, or relays), etc.
• Document each service call, detailing the issues faced and the solutions provided, ensuring that any feedback or specific client requests are noted.
• Address urgent calls, demonstrating your ability to manage unforeseen challenges and ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
• Engage with clients, providing them with updates on their equipment status, and advising on any further steps or care they should be aware of.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed at every site, especially when working in varying weather conditions or near waste materials.
• Leave each job site clean and free of debris to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction

Nice to Have (We will Train):

• Industry experience repairing waste and recycling equipment
• Basic Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) experience
• Stick Arc Welding

Physical Demands: While performing duties of this job, a technician would be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel.

What You’ll Do

The Skilled Labourer will support various departments in the function of their role. This includes the welding team, service technicians, pressure washing and more. The Labourer may be required to operate equipment and machinery and collaborate with other employees, supervisors, project managers, and customers.

Location: This role will work from our Production Shop and/or Customer's site.

Work Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Requirements:

• Assist the Production Team.
• Assist with loading and offloading equipment/parts using forkilift.
• Maintain, organize site and shop clean up.
• Perform garbage dig out on compactors.
• Operate pressure washer to clean equipment.
• Operate hand tools to assist productions/service team.
• Willingness to operate propane forklift to maneuver heavy equipment.
• Willingness to learn and grow in a fast=paced work environment.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• 2 - years' experience in a construction/industrial environment
• Ability to read measuring tape
• Must have experience working with hand and power tools
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
• Forklift operation (an asset, willing to train)
• Welding experience (an asset, willing to train)

The Field Welder will be responsible for providing on-site repairs and maintenance on waste compactors and balers. You will work from a company repair truck and be dispatched to customer sites to perform welding repairs to recycling containers, recycling equipment, grates, railings, and other related equipment. In this role, you will be customer-facing, and responsible for providing high-level customer service and care. Location: Field Welders will have the option to take home the Metro Compactor company vehicle and be dispatched from their home location

• Experienced in Arc/Stick welding

A Day in the Life

• Complete welding repairs to recycling containers/recycling equipment/grates/railings (parts are manufactured in shop, welder describes the parts to the shop then picks them up and installs on site. Welder will not need to fabricate all parts but must be able to explain them through measurements).
• Evaluate repairs at site, use of cutting torches and welder to perform various repairs.
• Use various hand and power tools.
• Prepare and submit Service Orders with clear communication, verbal and written.

The Brake Press Operator operates a brake press machine to bend, form, and shape metal sheets and plates. This role involves working in a manufacturing and fabrication environment. This role is critical in the metal fabrication process, transforming raw metal sheets into finished products through precise bending and shaping. The role requires technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

Location: This role will work from our Manufacturing Shop.

Work Hours: 7:30am – 4:00pm

Responsibilities 

·        Set up and operation of Hydraulic Brake Press

Occasional welding tasks include working with round bars and pipes of similar thickness. The welding tasks range from 1 inch stitches to continuous weld beads spanning several feet.

Location: This role will work from our Production Shop.
